Family Buries Late Nigerian Flag Designer After FG Failed Promises


The family of Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the late designer of Nigeria’s national flag, has laid him to rest after waiting over a year for a promised state funeral that never materialized. Akinkunmi, who passed away on September 4, 2023, at the age of 87, was originally supposed to receive a state burial from the Federal Government, but after months of delay, his family took matters up

Ademola Lookman grabbed a brace while Victor Osimhen came off the bench to help Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a comfortable 3-0 victory in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Benin Republic. Lookman scored in both halves, while Osimhen struck in between. The victory takes Nigeria to the top of Group D as they prepare for the next tie against Rwanda on Tuesday, September 10. It serves as a confidence booster for the Nigerian side that struggled against the Cheetahs when they met recently in a 2026 World Cup qualifying game. Gernot Rohr’s side came from behind to win that one 2-1.  A big congratulations to super eagle.
