🇯🇵 Activity of Sakurajima Volcano, Japan: Eruptions on January 1, 2025 

🌋On January 1, 2025, Sakurajima Volcano, located in Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyushu Island, displayed significant activity with multiple eruptions. 

💬According to reports from the Tokyo Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC), the first eruption was recorded at 05:58 UTC. Later, at 12:00 UTC, VAAC reported another volcanic ash emission that reached an altitude of 2,400 meters (approximately 8,000 feet) above sea level. The ash plume was moving southeast at a speed of about 20 knots. 

➡️ Sakurajima remains one of Japan's most active volcanoes, and its activity continues to draw the attention of scientists and local authorities. Caution is advised in areas affected by volcanic ash.
